Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a heart-shaped cake pan and line it with parchment paper.
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with buttermilk. Stir in vanilla extract.
Pour batter into the prepared heart-shaped cake pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare the frosting by beating butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
Optional: Add food coloring to the frosting for a vibrant effect.
Frost the cake evenly and decorate with sprinkles, edible glitter, or fresh berries.
Notes
For a different topping, try whipped cream and fresh berries, a chocolate ganache drizzle, or colorful sprinkles.
